Munio products are made of lesser known species of 100% FSC pure certified tropical timber from responsible managed forests. Munio products protect CO2 stored as bio-carbon in the biomass of the tropical forests from where the timber originates.
These demands which is also further described in the CanopyWoodTM Code of Conduct ensures CO2 emissions are dramatically reduced buying a Munio product instead of an equivalent product made of many other materials.

Looking beyond the inherent carbon protection in Munio products - transporting both raw materials and finished products invariably leads to CO2 emissions.
The transportation of products bought in the Munio E-shop are CO2-neutralized by Munio for the emissions resulting from the shipping of the product from us to the buyer.
We use a maximum average emissions approach where we calculate the CO2 emissions resulting from the delivery of products from Denmark to the consumer.

For air freight cargo we use a combination of 80% on one of the longest transport distances possible within our current main sales area the EU (Lisbon), 10% for Oceania/Asia (Sydney) and 10% for the USA (L.A.).
For the accompanying road transport we estimate the associated CO2 emissions based on a fully loaded lorry going 200 Km as the estimated average overland delivery distance.  (0,030 kg co2 for  1 kg product)

For 1 kg of gross product weight transported (our products weigh between 0.2 Kg and 2.4 Kg including all packaging) the standard CO2 emission number we use is as a result is 12,89 kg of CO2. 

C02 neutrality for the transport is secured by buying CO2 credits from www.worldlandtrust.org. This NGO invests the funds in concrete forest protection and reforestation-projects in Ecuador and Brazil.
